From Humble Beginnings to St. Louis Fame
Although C.A. Muench Confections, LLC came to life on January 6, 2015, we have been perfecting the art of candy making over three successive generations.
The legacy began over 80 years ago, when Lorene Muench crafted and refined her original caramel recipe in her homesteader Missouri kitchen.
Following these humble beginnings, son Charlie inherited and tinkered with her methods, eventually crafting his family-famous caramel-pecan chocolate confection, a Muench holiday mainstay for decades.
Packaged and given as Christmas and birthday gifts for several years, Charlie eventually bequeathed the legend to me, at which point I commenced experimenting with competing and complementary recipes, always striving for an ever-higher standard of perfection.
Continual Perfection
Always fiddling, my co-workers, family, friends, and neighbors have contributed to my current offerings of artisan candy. Whether it’s my modern-day variety of caramel CAMmies, toffees, brittles, truffles, cherry cordials or one of my many-flavored caramel popcorns, everyone raves! For years, my sons told me I shouldn’t give this candy away—I should sell it!
A Tribute to Tradition
C.A. Muench Confections serves as a tribute to my dad Charlie and his culinary refinement of Lorene’s original caramel recipe. As part of the professionalism he instilled in me, I not only use a commercial kitchen, so as to ensure food product safety, I am also a certified Food Safety Manager by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals.
